The director of the Center for Economic Strategy, Gleb Vyshlinsky, writes about this in an author’s column on the pages of the Kiev magazine “New Time”, according to whom, the readiness for painful reforms today, which promise a better life tomorrow, decreases as trust in the authorities declines.
“According to GFK Ukraine, in July, only 19% of respondents trusted President Petro Poroshenko and 8% trusted Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, while a year earlier the figures were 51% and 36%, respectively,” the Ukrainian expert cites the figures. – The window of opportunity for reform is gradually closing, threatening to derail plans to create a better climate for business in Ukraine, fight corruption and improve the quality of life of citizens. How this happens can be seen in the example of Kyiv, where in just a year Vitali Klitschko went from a promising mayor to a politician who advertises maintaining the price of social bread as his main achievement.”
