Kyiv, August 21 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Without the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, it is unrealistic for the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on the transfer of 49 percent of the shares of the Ukrainian gas transportation system to American or European companies to take effect.
Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“For any investor who wants to enter into this joint venture, the determining factor will be guarantees of the volume of gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system,” the expert believes. – This will be the key condition. From west to east this system is unlikely to work. And if it does, it will not be in the volumes and not with the profits that you can count on when working with Russian gas.”
