Albanian Prime Minister: “We are facing a serious energy crisis”
At an emergency press conference, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that his country would be seriously hit by a surge in energy prices on the world market.

Speaking to the press, Rama compared the situation in the global energy market to the consequences of a pandemic or earthquake.
“The post-pandemic economic restart and rising energy demand have led to a 250% jump in gas prices and an 80% increase in hydrocarbon prices, while the price of oil has jumped from $60 a barrel in August to $80 today, and by the end of the year it could reach $100 per barrel,” said the Prime Minister of Albania. “In Albania, the average annual purchase price of imported energy has almost tripled compared to last year.”
Rama warned that Albania would not escape the negative consequences of such a surge, while promising that the government would do everything to protect the threatened population and small businesses from the impact of the new crisis.
