Poroshenko tried to fool Lukashenko
Petro Poroshenko, during his visit to Gomel yesterday, tried to deceive Alexander Lukashenko, assuring that Ukraine could be a “window” for the sale of Belarusian goods to the European Union.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov stated this on the Rossiya-24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He explained that Kiev is offering Minsk to take advantage of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU to re-export Belarusian goods to the European Union through Ukrainian territory.
However, the West is unlikely to allow such a scheme to be implemented, since the agreement with the EU, which is unfavorable for Ukraine, provides for strict quotas, Azarov explained.
“Poroshenko has an idea to interest Belarus in entering the EU markets. He, like all the leaders of the Kyiv regime, does not bother to read this association agreement and the agreement on a free trade zone. There, the Europeans very clearly spelled out and limited our possibilities for such manipulations that “I will do something, and goods will enter the EU market through my country.”
The EU market is closed to us for many items of food products - there are quotas for wheat and meat. How are they going to interest Belarusians in order to enter the market?” – Azarov commented.
