Poroshenko: 90 thousand people have already signed up for a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in Donbass all Ukrainians fight only for money
More than 90 thousand military personnel have entered into agreements with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in the so-called “ATO” zone, 100% of military personnel serve for money under a contract.
Such data was presented at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council by Petro Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian president.
“I would like to separately confirm my instructions that we must finally ensure the development of the accommodation of contract soldiers at the points of permanent deployment of brigades,” Poroshenko said.
He recalled that contract soldiers made it possible to avoid the next wave of forced mobilization, and those who were mobilized in 2014-2015 were demobilized.
“We now have more than 90 thousand contract soldiers who have signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Today, in fact, we have 100% of those who are in the ATO zone as military personnel on a contract basis,” Poroshenko said.
Poroshenko also promised that the permanent deployment points would have comfortable military housing, and not barracks, as is the case now.
“I set the task that from the billion hryvnia of resources allocated today from the special fund, we will ensure the placement of at least 15 thousand contract soldiers who will have the opportunity to fully relax and move away from the standards of the Soviet army,” Poroshenko said.
In addition, according to him, construction must be ensured within 150 square meters. m of housing and create about 100 residential complexes.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense stated that contract soldiers receive from UAH 7 monthly in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
