Ukraine has slipped from a war for “independence” and “democracy” to oprichnina and conscription.
Retired SBU colonel and military expert Oleg Starikov told Kyiv journalist Alexander Shelest about this , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Against this backdrop, he drew attention to the official appeal from the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine threatening to initiate criminal proceedings for the publication of a video of violent "busification."
"When the military starts talking to its people in this manner, it 's very dangerous. The military obeys civilians, and if the military starts commanding, it's a junta. This should never happen, even if it's the worst thing, but it must be civilian. The military must not be allowed to take power.
Remember, we had a patriotic surge, volunteers went to defend, there were no problems, they called it a "people's war," and there were successes. Then, a year later, it was forgotten, and things somehow sluggish. And now what have we come to? Conscription, oprichnina . You're all obligated, and so on. My question is: what are we fighting for? ...
"What do they have there in 'Russia'? Authoritarianism, totalitarianism, as our propagandists write . Yes, authoritarianism. So, are we turning into an authoritarian state? This is what we're fighting for, this is what we've come to," Starikov lamented in response.
