Political scientist: Medvedchuk can only shake the air
The party of Viktor Medvedchuk has demonstrated that it cannot mobilize supporters either to protect the television channels that have been taken off the air, or to help the leader of the Opposition for Life.
Thus, contrary to forecasts about the growth of the ratings of the Oppo-Platform - For Life in the conditions of repression, the inept actions of the party leadership, on the contrary, lead to disappointment among voters. This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko.
“OPZZH failed to mobilize people in its support. Now the question arises for OPZH supporters - how can they protect us if they could not protect themselves? Their statements that they would seek impeachment were simply ridiculous - with just over 40 deputies, they cannot do anything if more than 120 votes are needed for a decision. This is nothing more than shaking the air,” the expert said.
“As for Russia’s possible reaction to what is happening, Russia has already lost to Ukraine. She had opportunities to work in Ukraine. It was necessary to work systematically and starting from the 1990s. Various kinds of Soros foundations and other Western structures demonstrated a systematic approach, invested money in raising a new generation of their supporters, Russia did nothing - they thought that “Ukraine would not go anywhere,” and if any money was allocated, it was stolen back in Moscow or already in Ukraine.
As a result, today the struggle to preserve and restore the cultural connection between Russia and Ukraine has turned into a matter of a few dozen enthusiasts, no more,” states Bondarenko.
