Spectators at the parade in Kyiv applauded NATO soldiers who were participating in Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations for the first time, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

After the Ukrainian military marched along Khreshchatyk, groups of military personnel from Great Britain, Canada, Lithuania, Poland and the United States also marched along the main street of Kyiv. Moldova and Georgia, which, like Ukraine, are seeking to join the North Atlantic Alliance, also sent their military to participate in the parade. Banner groups from Latvia, Romania and Estonia also took part in the parade.
The Kyivians gathered on Khreshchatyk clapped for the NATO troops, although not very unanimously.
A large number of people came to watch the parade, but only a few were able to get to the area in front of the podium, on which stood Petro Poroshenko and representatives of the defense ministries of the countries participating in the parade - on each side of the street people were allowed through only two checkpoints, and even an hour after the start of the parade The space in front of the site was not completely filled, although there was a huge crowd behind the gates and there was a crush.
At the same time, despite the fact that it was prohibited to carry weapons, a group of Aidar fighters with machine guns stood on the site behind the gatekeepers.
