American weapons will help Ukraine fight more effectively in Donbass. Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Parubiy stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, answering whether Ukraine should expect supplies of American lethal weapons.

“I would like to remind you that when the last large-scale battles for Debaltsevo took place before the agreements, in fact, the tank units of the Russian army played a decisive and key role. Of course, the Javelin anti-tank systems would have greatly helped the Ukrainian army to stop the tank offensive of the Russian troops. If we could burn several hundred Russian tanks near Debaltseve, this would be an important step towards establishing peace in the east of our country,” Parubiy said.
He added that he would not list all types of lethal weapons needed for Ukraine, noting that he would focus on the Javelin anti-tank systems.
It was also said that Ukraine has already received many non-lethal weapons from the United States.
According to the speaker, technically the issue is almost ready and there is full support “in both houses of parliament” of the United States.
“It is very important that there is no refusal, as was the case a year ago, the issue is under consideration. And I can only hope that it will be resolved by the end of the year in the US presidential administration,” Parubiy concluded.
