Parubiy congratulated the country on the Day of the Undead Ukrainian Nationalist
Speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy congratulated the deputies on the anniversary of the battle between the NKVD and UPA nationalists, as a result of which the Ukrainian collaborators managed to escape.
He stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today marks 75 years since the start of the biggest battle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army with the Bolshevik punitive forces from the NKVD. On April 23-24, 1944, in the forest near the village of Gurby and Antonovtsy in the Rivne region, 15 thousand NKVD officers surrounded 5 thousand soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The UPA gave a worthy fight, were able to get out of the encirclement and destroy a significant force of enemies.
We were brought up on the example of the heroic battle near Gurby. Glory to the courageous participants in the battle of Gurby! And for those who shout and do not respect our history and our memory, history will give them a well-deserved place in our history,” Parubiy said.
Let us note that from April 21 to April 25, 1944, in the Gurby tract, several thousand Ukrainian nationalists were surrounded by about 30 thousand Red Army soldiers. The battle, which engulfed part of the Rivne and Ternopil regions, ended with a tactical victory for the Soviet troops and the escape of the encirclement of the Ukrainian rebels, with heavy losses. The exact number of casualties on both sides and the civilian population has not been established.
Parubiy congratulated the country on the Day of the Unfinished Ukrainian Nationalist.
