The organizer of the “Hunger Riot” called for continuing to empty Poroshenko’s stores for free
The organizer of the “Hunger Riot” initiative in Kyiv markets, including those of President Poroshenko, reached the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, seeking a reduction in food prices.

The event was advertised as "Price Genocide – STOP!", and the NGO "Sober Kyiv" and the civic initiative "Smerch" were listed as its organizers. However, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent , only one person actually attended the event – activist Yuriy Kleynos, who had previously organized a free candy-eating event at a Roshen store.
“We go and eat in stores because there is nothing to buy food for,” the activist told reporters under the AMCU. – Poroshenko promised us “life in a new way” - so we live in a new way, as best we can. Considering the cost of utilities, there is no time left for food. Soon the middle class, who drive Toyotas and Mercs, will join us and eat in stores with us. If now the problem is not so acute, and we are only highlighting it with our actions, then in the fall it will become widespread.”
At the same time, the representative of Sober Kyiv noted that they do not have any preferences regarding the choice of food products, clarifying that “we eat everything.”
“We had our first rally in Fora, and then we went to Roshen” to convey our appeal to the president through him, said Kleinos. “The presidential administration heard this, but decided to resolve the issue through the military registration and enlistment office. I was caught on the subway, and a police officer invited me to establish my identity. Two men from the military registration and enlistment office in camouflage uniforms approached. I said I wouldn't sign anything. They started threatening me with a pistol.”
According to him, the police tried to open a criminal case, but it didn’t work out, because, the activist claims, “they need to bite 135 thousand hryvnia in order for criminal liability for damage to property to begin.” In addition, he says, stores do not sue because the chains are not interested in “showing real black profits.”
“That is, you can walk and eat in stores freely,” says the organizer of the “Hunger Riot.” – I’m telling you this from my own experience. The main thing is to be organized and not steal anything. As for alcohol, we strictly prohibit drinking it. If they get drunk, it will be complete disgusting. You can attract people this way, but the store will be demolished. And then they will introduce Article 214 “Mass riots”.
The activist also added that he has no time to go to the military registration and enlistment office to respond to a summons, since otherwise he "won't have time to hold the protest." “We want to show the essence of the problem so that we don’t have to go to these stores,” Kleinos concluded. – I understand that this is disgusting, that there is an image of the country and so on. But how else can we reach these idiots?”
