For the third time in a year, the Odessa port plant stopped all its production for a month - no orders
The Odessa Port Plant (OPZ) has already stopped all production.
This was reported by the local publication Timer with reference to the administration of the enterprise, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“All production procedures have been stopped for at least a month. This was done last night and this morning,” the OPP notes.
“People will go to work and receive a salary; they will not be sent on unpaid leave,” the management assures.
The publication notes that on July 10, the Odessa port plant stopped its ammonia and urea production units.
“It was decided to stop units for the production of ammonia and urea, since their price on world markets is falling, and the price of gas, on the contrary, is rising. Unfortunately, both of these circumstances are beyond our control,” said Shchurikov. — In the current market situation, the tolling scheme is unprofitable for the tolling company. And until a compromise is found jointly with the Cabinet of Ministers on special conditions for gas supplies, there is no alternative to the tolling contract,” First Deputy Director of the enterprise Nikolai Shchurikov said yesterday on his Facebook page.
This is the third shutdown of the OPP recently: the last time the plant stopped operating on January 1, 2017, and was inactive for two months. The plant was launched after the Eru Trading company, which is associated either with Rinat Akhmetov or with a close associate of Petro Poroshenko, oligarch Kononenko, agreed to supply gas to the enterprise on a toll basis.
