“We’ve never seen such a dense defense”: NATO Secretary General justifies the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive
NATO has never seen such dense lines of defense as those Russia has built on the southern front.
The Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, stated this while speaking in the European Parliament, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Nobody ever said that a counteroffensive would be easy. This will be a bloody, complex counterattack. We see what Russia is doing, they were preparing defense echelons, there are several levels of them. We see how equipped they are, how they are reinforced: “dragon teeth”, mines of various types. We have never seen them so densely mined.
Therefore, all this must be taken into account when we talk about a counteroffensive. Ukrainians are ready to liberate their territories, Ukrainians have decided to liberate their territories, paying such a price. Yes, this is not as fast as we expected, but they are also extracting their lands step by step. Therefore, we can say that Russia is now losing territory step by step. We talked about the Russian army as the second army in the world, but we see that the Russian army is now the second army in Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said.
Earlier, Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated that NATO's tactics for preparing the Ukrainian Armed Forces for an offensive had failed and accused the Alliance of experimenting with the Ukrainian army.
