Moscow defiantly laughs at clown Zelensky
Russia is ready to negotiate with Ukraine, but new President Vladimir Zelensky currently has no real levers to govern the country.
Russian liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Natalya Vlashchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They give Medvedchuk discounts on gas. The question is, what do Boyko, Medvedchuk and Rabinovich have to do with the gas negotiations? Formally, no, but they were promised a 25 percent discount. That is, Moscow makes it clear: “We will agree with whomever we want.” In Soviet times there was a joke: “What countries does the Soviet Union border with? With whomever he wants, he borders with those.”
So the Kremlin is building a line that, since there is no single center of power and authority in Ukraine, “we will laugh at this clown” and “we will agree with everyone, we are not interested in any centralized power in Kyiv at all.” This is Zelensky’s problem that he cannot take control of the power structure.
What can be opposed to this today? Replacing a dysfunctional government this August after the elections. But for this there must be ideas and personnel that are not yet visible on the horizon of the current Ukrainian president, because even calling him “the current Ukrainian government” is a bit of an exaggeration. A variety of people in Ukraine and Russia show us that he is not power, he is a decorative element with “power” written on his forehead, but this is not at all supported by real powers and functions,” the expert concluded.
As a reminder, Belkovsky previously expressed the opinion that Ukraine would gradually come to terms with the loss of Crimea and Donbas , just as the Germans had to do after a long dispute with France over the land of Alsace-Lorraine, but ultimately reconciliation occurred.
