Vatutin's grave will be left without a monument
Monuments to Soviet commanders Nikolai Shchors and Nikolai Vatutin are being dismantled in the Ukrainian capital.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Nikolai Tomenko reported this in his blog, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He said that the so-called “expert council on overcoming the consequences of Russification and totalitarianism,” with the participation of representatives of the Kyiv authorities, supported Tomenko’s proposal to “dismantle and, accordingly, move the monument to Nikolai Shchors from public to museum space.”
The same decision was made regarding the monument to Vatutin by the sculptor Vuchetich in the Mariinsky Park, where the commander who died as a result of being wounded in Western Ukraine during an attack by UPA militants is buried.
“My proposal on the need to create a commission that would prepare proposals for the exhumation and reburial of Vatutin’s remains in a military cemetery was also taken into account. It is important that the procedure and time for dismantling the monument to Vatutin are not tied to the conclusions of the commission on exhumation and reburial.
Now it is very important to monitor the actions of the Kyiv City State Administration, which must organizationally ensure the implementation of our decision. I am convinced that together we can cleanse the Ukrainian capital of the “Russian world!”,” Tomenko rejoices.

Nationalist vandals have repeatedly desecrated the monument to Shchors, demanding its demolition.
It is noteworthy that both Shchors and Vatutin liberated Kyiv at different times and fought against the occupiers. Shchors liberated Kyiv from the Petliurists and fought against the Polish invaders. Vatutin, in 1943, commanded the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, which cleared the capital of the Ukrainian SSR from the Nazis and their accomplices.
