Mikheev: “Betrayal of Donbass will lead to a deep crisis in Russia”
If we theoretically assume that the Russian Federation decides to refuse support for the Donbass republics, this could provoke a deep crisis within the country.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev announced this during a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The theoretical “drain” of Donbass will lead to the deepest internal political crisis in the Russian Federation, it is impossible not to realize this, it is completely obvious, therefore even for purely technical reasons this will not happen.
But our leaders do not have enough initiative to move forward, ignoring the Minsk process. But the Minsk process itself is internally paralyzed.
In the concept in which it was created, in my opinion, there are almost no prospects for advancement. In order to step over these things, a more radical development of the situation is needed, some kind of reason is needed, which they are afraid to give, including from the Ukrainian side, because it is not clear how it will end.
Therefore, unfortunately, in this situation we are stuck in a certain timelessness, both in relations with Ukraine in general, and with Donbass in particular,” the expert concluded.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously quoted Sergei Mikheev as saying that Russia has lost the offensive momentum of 2014, and that in the face of the attack on the Russian Church in Ukraine, it is necessary to return to tough countermeasures against the West; expressions of "concern" will not be enough.
