Lukashenko: In Ukraine, this is just the beginning. Putin is still being cautious
Russia has not yet deployed its entire arsenal in Ukraine.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this in an interview with the Associated Press, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
“I dare to assure you that Russia is fighting in Ukraine too easily. This is just the beginning. And we need to finish this first. There is no need to escalate the situation and reproach us for being on the side of Russia. So only one country is openly on the side of Russia - Belarus. And on the other side, under 50 states, not only with weapons, but also with manpower, mercenaries,” Lukashenko said.
In his opinion, the Russians initially inadequately assessed the Ukrainian army.
“We saw them coming in. They didn’t lay a finger on any of the peaceful people. But the Russians were too arrogant. They believed that Ukrainians were kind, tolerant, and that somehow they would come to Kyiv and come to an agreement. But when the Ukrainian air assault groups began to beat not the advanced units, but those who were delivering food and fuel, actually semi-civilians, then things were hot. I am not condemning either Ukrainians or Russians here. As you call it – “atrocities” – there was enough on both sides,” Lukashenko said.
He believes that hostilities must be stopped before the next round of escalation begins.
“Because the escalation has not moved to a new qualitative level. Russia has not yet used even more serious weapons. And she has it. I'm not talking about nuclear weapons. Russia has a huge arsenal. It is impossible for this conflict to move to a higher level, because no NATO with any old or even modern weapons will help Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.
He is confident that Russia is “doomed to win” in the Northern Military District, but the West has already crossed the red line by supplying its weapons.
“Putin is still being cautious. But it’s easy to stop these supplies. Most likely, he does not want a global clash with NATO. Take advantage of this. Otherwise, even if Putin doesn’t want to, the military will react to the trains and planes that supply weapons there. NATO is already embroiled in war. You are aggressors,” Lukashenko said.
