The culture of denunciation: Mejlis propagandists propose not to allow 18 artists from Russia to attend Eurovision in Kyiv

The Majlis TV channel ATR, broadcasting in Ukraine, proposed adding 17 Russian artists and one group who support the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation to the “black list”.

This is stated in an open letter released on behalf of the television channel’s staff and published by the Kyiv website “Obozrevatel.”

“In our petition, we especially draw attention to the need to prevent possible provocations during the preparation and holding of the international Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Ukraine by Russia,” the letter says.

“This applies to representatives of the Russian Federation who openly support the illegal annexation of Crimea and the military conflict in eastern Ukraine, who violated the procedure for entry into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, and who may be part of the Russian delegation, or plan to come as guests,” they write Majlis propagandists.
