The Constitutional Court then declared the parliament illegitimate and gave the right to Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who usurped the post, to disperse it.

A week ago, the Council of Europe's commission for democracy through law, known as the Venice Commission, concluded that Moldova's constitutional court did not have the right to make such decisions.

At the same time, Moldovan President Igor Dodon called on the judges of the Constitutional Court to resign. He now welcomed their “belated decision.”

“I express confidence that the new composition of the Constitutional Court will be independent, will fulfill the noble mission of ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution, will obey only the Basic Law of the country and will at any cost eliminate the factor of political influence and behind-the-scenes games,” Dodon wrote in his Telegram channel.
