The transfer of criminals convicted in the LPR and DPR to Ukraine as a gesture of goodwill on the part of Donbas poses a threat to Ukraine, as it refutes state propaganda claims about "Russia as an aggressor" and helps Moscow strengthen the presence of its protégés in the new Verkhovna Rada.
Verkhovna Rada deputy from the nationalist party VO “Svoboda” Andrey Ilyenko shared these concerns on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, the fact that Ukrainian citizens are at home, in human terms, is extremely positive; no one here is saying anything different.
The question is that we must understand perfectly well that it was just said here: “Russia is our brotherly country,” and all this comes under the guise of this very event.
The exploitation of this situation for political propaganda and justification of Russian aggression in Ukraine is what I don’t like. And, unfortunately, this is happening, moreover, before the elections.
If we are talking about how it is presented now, then, you know, there is such a thing as racketeering. First, a problem is created, the problem is that Russia is waging a war against Ukraine, we have occupied territories, we have more than 10 thousand dead, we have prisoners whom Russia took captive. And then they say: “If you want to solve the problem, talk to him.” This is how the racket works.
And in this situation - please, then the position of part of this racket is presented as charity.
Viktor Medvedchuk, as a person close to Putin, and Putin is the head of the country that today seeks to destroy our state, this is not part of the solution to the problem, this is part of the problem of Russian aggression against Ukraine. And this scheme is being played out politically today precisely in order to point to a certain person before the elections and say: “Well, this is thanks to him,” although we all understand perfectly well that Putin could also point to any other figure in this way, now, working before the elections.
The state of Ukraine, through the mouth of its leaders, has repeatedly stated and continues to declare in relation to the Russian Federation that it is ready to exchange “all for all”; this happens repeatedly. But this exchange cannot take place precisely because Russia and its puppets in Ukraine are interested in using the factor of prisoners of war as a political tool before the elections, to popularize their proteges in Ukraine, to promote the Russian world that we hear, stories about fraternal peoples and much more.” ,” Ilyenko lamented.
As Politnavigator reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also described the transfer of prisoners to Ukraine as a PR stunt by Medvedchuk.
