Kiev residents lazily drank beer while watching the Chubarov-Kazarin show
Representatives of the Mejlis, banned in Russia, held an action today in the center of Kyiv on Khreshchatyk dedicated to the Day of the National Crimean Tatar Flag.
The event lasted about forty minutes and attracted up to three hundred participants, many of whom were not Crimean Tatars, as some participants noted. There were just enough people gathered to carry a large flag. The procession was also accompanied by several cars, which honked and attracted the attention of Kiev residents to the event. However, as a PolitNavigator correspondent notes, many residents of the capital remained indifferent to the procession - they lay on the lawns with drinks.
During his speech, Ukrainian deputy Refat Chubarov recalled the ban on the Mejlis in the Russian Federation and called for efforts to lift the ban. To do this, he modified the traditional slogan of Crimean Tatar events “Millet! Vatan! Kyrym! (“People! Motherland! Crimea!”), adding “Majlis!” to it.
“The bandits banned the Majlis. A year ago, the International Court of Justice ordered Russia to immediately lift the ban and restore the activities of the Majlis. Russia does not want to do this. And we come to these holy words “Millet! Vatan! Kyrym! let’s add Majlis!” he said.
The rector of the fake Vernadsky Tauride National University, Vladimir Kazarina, said that in Crimea today those who “tacitly disagree” with what is happening on the peninsula are being repressed.
“When I think about the rage with which they arrest more and more people, about the rage with which they rot them in cells, sentence them to new and completely absurd terms of punishment... You inevitably ask yourself, what is the reason for this rage? Once again, our brothers the Crimean Tatars demonstrate silent disagreement with what is happening. This is silent disagreement, when they don’t seem to say anything out loud, they don’t seem to engage in provocative actions, but with every movement, their gait, their behavior they demonstrate that they do not agree with what is happening in their native land. And this silent resistance infuriates our occupiers,” Kazarin said.
