Kyiv has figured out how to bury the Minsk agreements
If ex-President Viktor Yushchenko is appointed as Ukraine’s representative at the negotiations in Minsk, this will finally bury the peace process in Donbass.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noted that taking into account the current line of Kyiv, which acts at the negotiations in Minsk according to the principle “the worse, the better,” the likelihood of Yushchenko’s appointment is very high.
“After all, he, unlike Kuchma, could never find a common language with Moscow and always demanded a translator during negotiations in order to avoid speaking in Russian. Today, the Ukrainian authorities need a “gravedigger” for the Minsk agreements and a better candidate than Yushchenko cannot be found to carry out this task,” the publication writes.
“However, this personnel leapfrog only confirms: the point of no return in relations between Kyiv and Donbass has already been passed,” the newspaper continues. – In a situation where President Poroshenko declares that “the Minsk process does not exist” and avoids any steps to implement the Minsk agreements, it is impossible to seriously talk about restoring peace in eastern Ukraine. All plans of official Kyiv to change the format have nothing to do with the real settlement.”
In addition, it is indicated that Kyiv has consistently cut off all the threads that could hypothetically connect Donbass and Ukraine.

“The cultural, linguistic and legislative gap between the territories controlled by Kyiv and the Donbass is so great today that it cannot be smoothed out by the law “On Special Status” even in the most non-confrontational version,” RG summarizes.
As PolitNavigator reported, media outlets reported that former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko could take Leonid Kuchma's place as Ukraine's representative in the Minsk negotiations.
