Herbst: The US is not ready to give Ukraine security guarantees
The United States has not come to the conclusion of supplying all the weapons that the Kiev regime asks for.
This was reported by PolitNavigator correspondent John Herbst, former US Ambassador to Ukraine, in response to a question about what international security guarantees Ukraine could receive from Russia.

“It seems to me that today the United States is not ready to give its strong guarantee to Ukraine. Today Washington is not ready. But I think that now in Washington they are coming (not yet) to the need to send Ukraine all the necessary weapons, so that it would be very dangerous for Russia to attack Ukraine again.
I think that maybe in a year, two, three years America will be ready to give a guarantee. Because, in my opinion, without American guarantees, Ukraine will not get what Ukraine wants,” Herbst told the Kyiv magazine “Novoe Vremya.”
He agreed with analysts who fear that increasing arms supplies to Ukraine could lead to an unpredictable Russian response.
“I will characterize the [US] administration’s policy in this war: “We are giving enormous assistance. And without this help, Ukraine would not be able to defend itself well from Russian aggression.”
But I don't think our policy is strong because we often refuse Ukrainian requests for weapons precisely because we care too much about the Russian reaction. Of course we have to think about this. But sometimes we didn’t send what we needed because we were a little afraid of the Russian reaction. We talked about a possible Third World War, and this is a weakness. It’s not good, as a superpower, to show weakness,” the diplomat concluded.
