“Calibration” is coercion to negotiate – Israeli intelligence colonel
Missile attacks on Ukraine's energy and other infrastructure will continue until Kyiv and those behind it agree to negotiations with Moscow.
This was stated on the air of the internet channel Iton TV by retired Israeli intelligence colonel, former head of the Nativ agency, and former Israeli ambassador to Ukraine and Russia, Zvi Magen, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

“What is happening is the negotiation process, no matter how cynical it may sound. Russia is most likely very interested in ending this conflict and getting out of it with some minimal damage. To do this, it must achieve the consent of the other party, in this case Ukraine, but it is also not on its own, and Ukraine sets conditions that Russia is not ready for.
Therefore, Russia is trying to force Ukraine and those who stand behind it to come to an agreement. This means forceful methods. Cause serious damage to Ukrainian infrastructure and bring it to the point where it will one way or another have to agree to end the conflict.
This has not happened yet, but Russia is increasing its attacks with drones and missiles on rear infrastructure facilities. It shouldn't stop until the other side says they've had enough and are willing to negotiate to some extent. This is the conflict now. As far as I understand, there are no other military actions yet. Of course, targeted operations are being carried out there, but the general situation is that the front has frozen and dug in,” Magen said.
He added that the Russian retreat from Kherson did not change the strategic situation.
“Kherson was a rather inconvenient bridgehead for Russia, because it is on the opposite bank of the Dnieper, it was quite difficult to maintain it, so there was a tactical reason to move away from it. If they had been able to, they would have held it, but they failed, and they had to surrender it, but this does not yet change the general position.
The question is whether Ukraine will now carry out extensive offensive actions towards Russia, which is not moving yet. On the contrary, because non-combat weather is approaching, and in general, in my opinion, no one has any interest in starting another round of extensive military operations. In my opinion, now the front has frozen and is waiting for a definite decision. And Russia is putting pressure in this direction to force the opposite side to agree,” the expert explained.
