How to choose an oil filter for a car
A filter is one of the components that is essential for a truck's long and reliable operation. Therefore, its selection requires special considerations. Strans specialists shared their secret to choosing high-quality components.
Depending on the scope of application, there are several types of these auto parts.
-Oil. Designed to clean engine oil from engine operating products. Usually this is carbon deposits, rust and other solid particles. This helps slow down and prevent faster engine wear.
-Air. Designed to prevent engine damage. Cleans the air it uses from dust, dirt and even insects.
-Fuel. As its name implies, it purifies the fuel itself (dust, liquid contaminants, rust, etc.) and thus improves its quality.
-Soot. Typically used with a catalytic converter. Reduces soot levels in exhaust gases.
-Hydraulic. Another indispensable component of a car, as it improves and prolongs the operation of the vehicle’s hydraulic systems. Cleans fluid in hydraulic systems.
-Salon. Purifies the air that enters the cabin. Therefore, in this case it protects not so much the vehicle as the driver himself from exhaust gases, soot and simply unpleasant odors.
Oil type: types types design
The most common type of oil filter is the full-flow one. Thanks to its design, namely the presence of a bypass valve to regulate pressure, it is able to prevent the supply of clogged oil to the engine, and therefore prevent immediate breakdown of the unit. Unfortunately, it is its cleaning abilities that leave much to be desired. Here the partially flowing one will give him a head start. It allows only part of the oil to pass through, but over time the entire volume is cleared. This takes more time, but provides better results.
An alternative that combines the positive aspects of both of these filters is a combination filter. It not only guarantees more effective cleaning, but also a longer service life.
The design of oil filters can be non-separable or collapsible. The first type has to be replaced in TIR STO when clogged. In the second, only the filter element can be replaced, but this is not all its advantages: it is also cheaper and at the same time guarantees better cleaning results. It should be borne in mind that such filters are found mainly in machines made in Germany and America.
Selection rules
When purchasing truck parts, it's important to pay attention to a few details. First, consider the quality of the filter material. It determines the cleaning performance and filter capacity. It's important to choose only high-quality paper.
Next, you should pay attention to the fineness of cleaning: it should be at least 5 microns. It would seem that the less, the better, but this is far from the case. This is because the fineness of cleaning and throughput “conflict” with each other. It is important to find a “compromise” between them.
There are some signs that will help you distinguish a high-quality product from a low-quality one. First, the design features of the shut-off valve. If it is not sealed, then oil will begin to flow into the engine. Secondly, the thickness of the paper. In this case, thickness is not good, because it reduces the service life of the spare part.
And lastly. Choose only high-quality auto parts. This way you will not only get long-lasting units, but also protect your car and extend the life of its individual components.
