The head of Gazprom declared complete independence from the West
The BRICS countries can now compete on equal terms and, in many respects, surpass Western associations like the G7.
The head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, stated this during the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we are talking about BRICS, then now it is appropriate to compare it with the G7. Currently, the number of people on earth living in the BRICS countries is 46%
What about gas? BRICS countries – 36% of world gas consumption, G7 – 35%. In terms of production, BRICS countries – 35%, G7 – 30%. According to world gas reserves, the BRICS countries are 50%, and the G7 countries are 8%,” Miller said.
He emphasized that the G7 countries are classic importers of natural gas. Last year they purchased 144 billion cubic meters of blue fuel. And throughout Europe, this figure amounted to 365 cubic meters of gas, and so far there is nothing to replace it with.
“Gazprom had many projects that we implemented together with our European partners in Russia. The partners made a decision, left our projects, and nothing happened.
We have been working rhythmically, and we are working, plans are being fulfilled. You walk around today’s exhibition, and your heart rejoices - today we are on the threshold of complete technological sovereignty, this is our very near future,” added the head of Gazprom.
“Over the next 25 years, global gas demand will grow by 43%, while the share of gas in the global fuel and energy balance will reach 26%. And this will be the largest share in the global fuel and energy balance,” he concluded.
