The Hero of the Russian Spring made a sharp statement on the situation in the DPR
A member of the Donbass militia, communist volunteer from Latvia, Benes Aijo, issued a statement in which he sharply criticized the initiative of the public movement "Donetsk Republic" to extend the term of office of the current government and the head of the DPR.

“The Constitution of the DPR was adopted on May 14, 2014 by the Supreme Council... According to this Constitution, in the DPR, deputies of the People’s Council are elected for a term of 4 years during direct general parliamentary elections held according to a proportional system in multi-member constituencies. The head of the DPR is also elected for a term of four years. And some forces are offering us to extend the term of the current government in violation of the law! In violation of the Constitution! – the militiaman is indignant.
“The election of the Head, like the election of People’s Deputies, is the prerogative of the people, and not a bunch of unknown people from an unknown “social movement”, not even a party. Whose interests do the members of this “movement” represent? Who gave them the authority to decide their fate for the people? What to do with the promise of Alexander Zakharchenko, who said back in March that elections in the DPR would take place, and he intended to participate in them?” – notes the author.
“The Basic Law of the DPR (Article 85 of Chapter 9) allows amendments to the Constitution by the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic, with no less than two-thirds of the votes of the established number of deputies.
In principle, certain political forces may... try to push through an amendment to “extend” the term of office of deputies and the head. But there is no time for this anymore...
After all, the decision to call elections (clause 2 of article 9 of the Law “On the Election of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic”) is made by the People’s Council of the DPR no later than 60 days before the elections (clause 2 of article 5).
Elections of the Head are held on the first Sunday of November in the year of the end of his powers (clause 1 of article 5). Thus, this year the next elections of the Head of the DPR must be announced by the National Assembly of the DPR before September 5. Plus 1-2 days for publication of the resolution,” says Benes Ayo.

He admits that elections in the DPR may also be canceled under the pretext of martial law. However, the communist believes, such a scenario will lead to discrediting the idea of the DPR and will be beneficial to supporters of the return of Donbass to Ukraine.
“It is quite possible that some “Donetsk elites”, who actually control some large enterprises that are under the so-called external management and have established profitable production and trade deals with Russian oligarchs, simply do not want to lose their corruption income, which is possible only when they are in power .
On the other hand, all these large enterprises were not nationalized (as many politicians promised us back in 2014), but remained the property of the Kyiv oligarchs, since some representatives of our elite may be putting their eggs in two baskets and do not believe in the final victory of the DPR .
These people probably assume that we can still return to the fascist bosom of dill and therefore, just in case, they are “friends” with the Kiev junta and oligarchs, in order, on the one hand, to avoid repression in the event of Kiev’s arrival, and on the other, to join the Ukrainian elite,” writes the author.
