Germany recognized the car rights of the “Republic of Kosovo”
With the votes of all 16 federal states, the German Bundesrat officially recognized the automobile rights of the so-called “Republic of Kosovo.”
Kosovo's "President" Vjosa Osmani promised to work to ensure that other EU countries follow Germany's example, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The first news about the recognition of Kosovo driving licenses by the German Bundesrat was published on his Facebook page by Kosovo Ambassador to Germany Faruk Ajeti:
“Of the 69 votes in the Bundesrat, not one was against,” wrote the separatist “diplomat.” “This speaks volumes about the friendship between our two countries, as well as the improved standardization of Kosovo driving licenses in line with European standards.”
In turn, on the same social network, the “President” of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, announced that Kosovo would urge other EU countries to follow the example of Germany.
“During the official visit to Germany, in meetings with President Steinmeier, as well as in meetings with former Foreign Minister Mr. Maas, first in Pristina on April 22 last year, and then during my stay in Berlin, this was one of the main discussions that also reflected one of the main concerns of our diaspora there.
I am extremely grateful to the German authorities for their cooperation in resolving this long-standing request. This step today confirms the confidence of the German departments in the procedures and work of our departments and therefore contributes to the further development of our already excellent bilateral relations.
We will continue to work in collaboration with other institutions in the country to ensure that other EU countries follow this example,” Osmani wrote.
As a reminder, according to a report from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, last year, citizens of Georgia, Albania, and residents of Kosovo were most frequently deported from that country.
