Black Sea gas works for the new Ottoman Empire
The Turkish research vessel Fatih discovered a deposit of 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Black Sea.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his fellow citizens about this on the NTV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This is an event of historic proportions,” Erdogan said. – We discovered the largest natural gas deposit in the history of the country in the Black Sea... Our goal is to transfer Black Sea gas to the people for use by 2023. Türkiye intends to solve the energy problem once and for all! We will move towards this goal without encroaching on anyone’s rights and not allowing ours to be trampled on.”
At the same time, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Finance, Berat Albayrak, commented on the news in the spirit that the find will allow the republic to become energy independent from other states.
Against the background of what happened, quite pertinent questions arise about the future of the Russian-Turkish project for the transit of gas from Russia called “Turkish Stream”. Especially considering the aggressive and rather unceremonious policy of Turkey, which openly neglects the interests of its neighbors and, represented by its leadership, is committed to the revival of Ottomanism.
All of this is evidenced by the relatively recent escalation in the Aegean Sea, Turkey's aggressive intervention in the Syrian and Libyan conflicts, Azerbaijan's demonstrative support during the recent escalation with Armenia, the provocation of further migrant attacks on the European Union, and the return of Orthodox churches from the Roman era to the status of mosques.
“Turkey, not Russia, will apparently be the energy superpower,” former Odessa journalist and Russian military correspondent Igor Dimitriev commented on the news in his Telegram channel. “In addition to its own reserves, it is becoming a key hub through which gas from eastern and Mediterranean fields will flow to Europe. Meanwhile, Russia is separated from Europe by an impenetrable sanitary barrier of color revolutions.”
Dimitriev also drew attention to the fact that in the African state of Mali, previously controlled by France, an anti-French coup took place, which was carried out by pro-Turkish militants from the Black Wolves group.
“While you were watching Belarus float away from Russia’s sphere of influence, an interesting story happened in Africa... In short, it seems that we will soon go... to pay our respects to the Sultan,” the military correspondent concluded.
