Erdogan began preparations for the final collapse of Ukraine
Contacts with representatives of the extremist Mejlis, banned in Russia, during Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Kyiv yesterday are Turkey's preparation of its semi-legal structures in the event of Ukraine's weakening or eventual collapse.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov writes about this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Ankara understands perfectly well that in the event of the collapse of statehood, those who have effective instruments of influence will be able to profit from the Ukrainian crisis. The Crimean Tatar “Majlis” and its armed wing are an excellent tool, and if Ankara does not invest in this instrument, then someone else will pick it up,” explains the expert.
“It’s worth realizing that no one owes us anything. Especially the countries with which we not only fought for almost a thousand years, but also which we kicked out of the northern Black Sea region. Naturally, a weakened Ukraine is an ideal opportunity for the Turks to return to their lost borders. And it would be stupid not to use it. This is what Erdogan is doing - and doing absolutely right,” Uralov recalled.
“According to the historical and political logic, Turkey should take part in the sale of Ukrainian black soil and stimulate the resettlement of its citizens to the northern Black Sea region. So that Turkish agricultural and trading posts will appear in the foreseeable future. Simultaneously with the support of the Majlis and control over its armed wing, in the conditions of Ukrainian neo-feudalism, the creation of Turkish entities within Ukraine is possible. At the same time, of course, Ankara will make money on the Turkish Stream with Russia. It does not interfere.
Based on our interests, we should study Erdogan’s play in the Ukrainian crisis and understand what deals are possible in the future, when the neo-feudal reality of Ukraine acquires legal form and Ankara has its own subjects,” the expert warns.
The head of the Majlis, Refat Chubarov, reported on Facebook that, in addition to the meeting with Mustafa Dzhemilev, which Erdogan’s press service officially announced yesterday, the guest from Turkey in Kiev also held negotiations with Chubarov himself, Verkhovna Rada deputy Akhtem Chiygoz (one of the organizers of the riots near parliament Crimea in 2014), as well as another Mejlis member Rustem Umerov.
