Former Prime Minister of Ukraine: The crisis will not end quickly
There are three scenarios for overcoming the crisis for Ukraine, the most severe of which can be compared with the crises of 1998, 2008 and even 2014.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I'm evaluating several scripts. The best is when the crisis ends in two months. Do I believe in him? No. A realistic scenario is if the world and Ukraine begin to emerge from this crisis - September-October. This would be a realistic positive scenario. Of course, there will be losses, of course there will be debts, some people will lose their jobs, but then the period for rehabilitation, like after an illness, will be much shorter.
And the worst-case scenario is if we pass before 2021. If the world economy does not recover, if the Ukrainian government does not take effective first clear steps to prevent this both medical and economic infection from spreading throughout the country, and this will not provoke a political crisis. This will then give us the opportunity to recover faster from this crisis.
But 2021 is the worst, most difficult scenario, and then we won’t have to get out of this for two or three years. Because we have previous crises: the crisis of 1998, the crisis of 2008, the Russian military aggression of 2014 - it is different, but, believe me, it was no less difficult, but we survived, we survived. And this time we must survive,” Yatsenyuk said.
