Dodik: “The peaceful collapse of BiH is quite real”
Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milorad Dodik responded to information circulating in Balkan media about the further redrawing of the post-Yugoslav space under the auspices of the EU.
Dodik believes that three independent state entities can soon be peacefully created in place of BiH.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, during a press conference in East Sarajevo (a remote suburb of the Bosnian capital belonging to the Republika Srpska), Milorad Dodik assessed the recent statement of the “Croatian” (elected with the votes of Bosniaks and not recognized by the Croats themselves) member of the Presidium of BiH Zeljko Komsic about readiness to defend the unity of BiH with arms in hand.
“Who cares about the war, who commands Komsic? What army is he a general in? – the leader of the Bosnian Serbs asked a rhetorical question. “They still brag about what kind of war they are.” I reject the very word war.”
Dodik noted that peaceful separation is the only solution for BiH, where problems are constantly getting worse, “and the joint government is ineffective and quite rotten in terms of initiatives and the desire to actually do something.”
“There is a lot wrong here, BiH is unstable. We need to sit down and create three states that will have an international guarantee that they will be prohibited from fighting each other, they will be demilitarized and their borders will be open, people will be able to move freely, as will goods... The Bosniaks will benefit from this more than from one a misleading story about how they will impose BiH on the Croats and Serbs, which they want to appropriate only for themselves,” Dodik said.
The Serbian member of the Presidium noted that he had discussed a similar plan with European diplomats.
“Komsic wants to shut the mouth of everyone who speaks on this topic, in the spirit of: “Just try to talk about this, and you will be publicly attacked!” said the Bosnian Serb leader. “He still thinks it’s a taboo topic that no one should talk about.” I never called for war, and Komsic and Šefik Džaferović (Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency - ed.) boast that in response they declared that there would be war. Who cares about war today? Are there people in the BiH Federation who want to go to war? I don't believe this story."
Dodik added that the Republika Srpska does not think of gaining independence at the cost of war.
“I will never allow the Serbs to take a war stance. No to conflict, but yes to discussions. It is wrong to bring the word “war” into the public space of BiH, as Komsic and Dzaferovic did. I reject the concept of war,” concluded the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency.
