A State Duma deputy proposes banning international calls on home phones.
The ban on phone calls via WhatsApp and Telegram has reduced the number of citizens deceived by Ukrainian scammers.
State Duma deputy Sergei Boyarsky stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station, as reported by a PolitNavvigator correspondent.

"No one intentionally shut down, disrupted, or slowed down WhatsApp or Telegram out of spite. These platforms, while operating in our market, were required to comply with certain requirements of Russian law, which are the same for everyone... Neither WhatsApp nor Telegram responded to the regulator's legitimate demands or negotiated with us, so the decision was made to degrade voice messaging on these platforms. It was from that moment that we saw that we had stemmed the tide of fraudulent activity," Boyarsky asserted.
However, according to him, scammers have now migrated to international calls to landlines.
"Regarding landline telephone service, I'd like to propose an unpopular but necessary and effective solution. I would disable international calls to landline numbers , at least temporarily. I'm firmly convinced that the only people calling our pensioners on their home numbers are scammers," Boyarsky said.
