The Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevhen Shevchenko, who was expelled from the Servant of the People, was a Ukrainian nationalist and Russophobe from his early youth.
He spoke about this on the air of political scientist Vadim Karasev’s video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I was not a Komsomol member, and for ideological reasons I did not join it. I was in the "People's Movement of Ukraine", in the underground, in the 80s.
" And the KGB was constantly coming to my home , to my parents, and my mother would say to me, 'Where did you come from, such a self-willed person? Why don't you let us live in peace?' Even at such a young age, the KGB was constantly coming to us. They put me on a watch list , kept me," Shevchenko said.
He stressed that he maintains the same oppositional position towards the government now.
"That's why I never applauded any Zelensky. Because I can't applaud some illogical statement, pathos that doesn't mean anything," added the former "servant of the people."
