Refat Chubarov, head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis (banned in Russia), called on the state to revoke its permission for Martin Sajdik to serve as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office's Special Representative in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group for the Donbas Settlement following the latter's statement regarding Crimea, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Ukrainian state must immediately revoke its permission for Mr. Martin Sajdik to exercise the powers of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group for a settlement in Donbass,” Chubarov said.

“I will not repeat the obvious things related to the Steinmeier formula and expectations during the meeting of the Normandy Four, but I would like to say that one of the persons involved in this action is Mr. Martin Sajdik, who has the powers of the special representative of the OSCE Chairmanship in Ukraine. Mr. Sajdik absolutely deliberately ignores all decisions and clear positions of the OSCE that have been adopted over the past five years on Russian aggression towards Crimea. And this gentleman remains one of the main moderators, on whom a lot depends: how issues related to the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Ukraine will be considered,” added Chubarov.

The head of the Majlis also added that he received a lot of reactions from the Crimean Tatars: according to him, people were outraged by Sajdik’s subjective excursion into history. “If you started talking about history, why didn’t you go further? What you didn’t say is that in 1783 Crimea was annexed by the Russian Empire, and thus the statehood of the Crimean Tatars - the Crimean Khanate - was forcibly liquidated. Which was more than three centuries before... This behavior indicates that Martin Sajdik is one of those officials whose task is to justify the crimes of Russia that have been committed and continue to be committed against Ukraine,” added Chubarov.

Let us recall that earlier in the media a statement by Martin Sajdik appeared that “Crimea during the Soviet years was part of Russia before being included in the Ukrainian SSR, and before that it belonged to the Russian Empire.”
