Muravitsky's lawyer: is it really a crime to oppose the war?
Today, the defense of journalist Vasily Muravitsky, arrested by the Ukrainian authorities on charges of treason, held a meeting with representatives of the OSCE monitoring mission.

The lawyer of the detained journalist, Andrei Gozhy, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“During the meeting, we informed them about the situation with journalists, in particular in Ukraine, in the city of Zhitomir. About pressure on the press, about increasing cases of pressure both from the state and from certain criminal structures. And specifically regarding Vasily Muravitsky, they reported about the illegality of his detention, about violations of legal procedures and, in principle, the absurdity of the charges, because in essence the journalist was arrested because he did not want to work within the framework of the topics launched from Bankova, he had his own, different position , in some ways it is against the current regime in Ukraine, but this is not prohibited by the Constitution, because we do not see anything specifically anti-Ukrainian in its actions. For example, is it really a crime to speak out against war?” says the lawyer.
According to him, the information received by OSCE representatives will be included in their reports, which could have a positive impact on the progress of Muravitsky’s case.
“We assess the very fact that the OSCE mission came to Zhytomyr on the Muravitsky issue as a clearly positive signal from the international community. As the Ukrainian-Russian Bulgakov wrote, “manuscripts don’t burn.” This information is still documented, accumulated, and when regimes change, usually those who imprisoned journalists themselves find themselves on trial,” the human rights activist concluded.
