“This is one of Zelensky’s most serious mistakes. Everyone knows who Saakashvili is, his hysterical character, megalomania and other unpleasant qualities that he showed when he was Odessa governor are known. I don’t think he will be able to get along with Arsen Avakov, and this will be one of the factors destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. This is unlikely to add constructiveness to the work of the government.
We must also not forget that Saakashvili has always been close to the US Democratic Party, which is unlikely to please Washington, where they have not yet forgotten that Saakashvili was hired to work in Ukraine at the personal request of Joe Biden.
Russia's appointment of Saakashvili to this post is neither hot nor cold. Therefore, it is unlikely that this was a gesture directed towards Russia. Deputy prime ministers have rather limited opportunities to influence the situation; this is not the most key position in the government. But this is a factor that will irritate Avakov, the Georgian leadership and the United States. Why Zelensky needs this headache is unclear?” Bondarenko said.
