Kyiv, February 16 (PolitNavigator, Oleksandr Semenyuta) – Ukrainians did not receive the tax reduction promised by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in 2015. This is stated in an analytical report by the International Center for Advanced Studies.

“The changes introduced by the government to the Tax and Budget Codes are of a fiscal nature and, contrary to government statements, will not lead to a reduction in the tax burden on businesses and citizens,” the report notes.
According to ICPS experts, the declared reduction in the number of taxes and fees from 22 to 11 actually means the transformation of canceled taxes into existing ones.
For example, tax rates on passive income are increasing from 15 to 20% and the collection of military taxes remains in effect. In addition, starting from 2015, the number of payer groups under the simplified taxation system is being reduced and an additional import tax is being introduced, which will only worsen the purchasing power of the population.
“Taking into account the industrial decline, military operations, the destroyed infrastructure of Donbass, the trade war with the Russian Federation, the devaluation of the hryvnia and, as a consequence, the general deterioration of the socio-economic situation in the country, almost all the proposed changes only increase the tax burden,” MCPI analysts emphasize.
