Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Poroshenko: New security guarantees are worse than the Budapest Memorandum
What the US and Ukraine have worked out as new security guarantees and a peace plan is even worse than the worthless “Budapest Memorandum.”
This was stated on air by the Ukrainian Armed Forces reserve captain, former commander of a strike drone company, and an active supporter of former President Petro Poroshenko, Oleksiy Petrov, on the air of the Pryamyi TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"I still don't understand what kind of security guarantees are being discussed, what they will consist of, and so on. The United States, NATO, and European signatory countries should provide guarantees to Ukraine, according to the logic of Article 5 of the NATO Charter..."
Great, wonderful, but we're not NATO members. Why bother with Article 5 when we can just add a separate article to the treaty? Hit Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, and write it.
This point should read as follows: “If the Russian Federation continues its aggression against Ukraine, then the signatory countries , meaning the United States of America, the countries of the European Union, and someone else, undertake, the key word is ‘undertake’ – not ‘should’, ‘possibly’, ‘will think about’, ‘will communicate’ – undertake to provide a military response to such aggressive actions by the Russian Federation.”
Then it will be clear, but now it’s just another “blah-blah-blah,” he reasoned.
"At one time, Ukraine already believed in such long, powerful, and unshakable phrases. Remember, friends, the Budapest Memorandum. And then Ukraine essentially simply gave up its third-largest nuclear potential in the world in exchange for some piece of paper," Petrov blabbed.
