The Verkhovna Rada wants to deprive draft dodgers of access to their money, but fears public hatred in return.
Existing restrictive measures for those evading conscription in Ukraine are insufficient and need to be tightened.
This was stated by Fedor Venislavsky, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party, on the air of the Obozrevatel channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The presenter asked when restrictions for draft evaders were planned.
The deputy recalled that earlier, when the package of laws to strengthen mobilization was being prepared, a measure such as blocking bank cards for draft dodgers was envisaged. Ultimately, however, only blocking driver's licenses remained. However, this does not stop those avoiding the army.
He said work is currently underway to tighten legislation, but acknowledged that this is not easy, as deputies fear that this will have repercussions during the elections.
He said that, as a member of the parliament's defense committee, he communicates behind closed doors with the command, which insists on such measures.
"But our parliamentary partners, our colleagues, don't have such a deep understanding of all these issues. And so they're very reluctant to make any unpopular decisions that would lead to restrictions on human rights in any given area," Venislavsky added regretfully.
