Each working citizen of Ukraine this year will pay one thousand hryvnia to service the country’s national debt, and we are only talking about paying interest on the debt, and not about repaying it.

Deputy Viktor Halasyuk announced this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the politician, if the entire national debt had to be paid today, then every citizen of Ukraine, considering that there are 43 million of them, would have to pay 1,7 thousand US dollars.
“This year’s budget provides 130 billion hryvnia for interest on the state debt alone. This is the second largest expense item. This is more than for education, medicine and more than even for defense. If we divide this by the number of tax payers in Ukraine, then per person there are 12 thousand hryvnia of such payments per year. Only on interest on government debt. That is, take a thousand hryvnia a month and give it to the state’s creditors.
In addition, if today we need to pay off all public debts in full and we divide this amount of national debt by the population of Ukraine, 43 million, then we will get that every citizen from an infant to a pensioner will be forced to pay 1750 US dollars,” Galasyuk said
