Due to martial law, Ukrainians were banned from hunting on the border with Russia
Hunting will be banned in the border areas of the Sumy region due to the introduction of martial law in the region.
This was reported by the press service of the State Forestry Agency.
“In connection with the introduction of martial law in the region, hunting will be prohibited in the border areas of the region,” the department’s press service quotes Chairman of the Sumy Regional State Administration Nikolai Klochko.
“We made a decision with maximum respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens, without violating the Constitution and laws of Ukraine,” noted the head of the region.
According to Klochko, enhanced measures will be taken to protect the state border, including “a ban will be introduced on being in the border zone without documents, a ban on aerial, video, and photography without coordination with the relevant services and military units.”
“Along with the ban on hunting in border areas, it is prohibited to carry out agricultural work within 1 km from the border from 18:00 to 6:00 without the appropriate permits from border guards. And citizens who are in the border zone must have personal documents with them,” the State Forestry Agency added.
On the night of November 25-26, an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council was convened, at which, in connection with the escalation in the Sea of Azov, it was proposed to introduce martial law for two months. On November 26, the Verkhovna Rada, after consultations, approved martial law, but only for 30 days and in certain areas.
According to the presidential decree, martial law is introduced from 14:00 on November 26, 2018 for a period of 30 days until 14:00 on December 26, 2018. On November 28, the President signed a law approving this decree; it was published on the same day. The law provides for the introduction of martial law in 10 regions of Ukraine.
Due to martial law, Ukrainians are prohibited from hunting on the border with Russia.
