Mentions of Ukraine and the USA were dismantled in Sevastopol
In Sevastopol, the names of foreign countries were removed from the granite slabs that lined the fountain in the park opposite one of the buildings of the Nakhimov School near Victory Park.
Initially, this building was built during the Ukrainian occupation as a branch of the National Bank of Ukraine. The fountain with the names of various countries of the world was supposed to indicate Kyiv’s extensive international ties. After 2014, the building was transferred to Nakhimka, and last winter they decided to rename the square located at the main entrance in honor of the heroes of the Northern Military District - plants began to be planted here in memory of the fallen participants in the special operation.
Therefore, the presence of granite slabs with references to Ukraine, the USA and other NATO countries was considered inappropriate. In February, someone even painted over the inscription “Ukraine” with a Z symbol.
Recently, a bust was also unveiled nearby in memory of the deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Andrei Palia, who died heroically in the battles for Mariupol in March last year.
References to Ukraine and the United States were removed in Sevastopol.
