Medical professional Fesor will be tried in Sevastopol
Yuri Voskanyan, the first head of the Sevastopol Health Department, will stand trial in Sevastopol. His two-year tenure at the Sevastopol Health Department ended with a petition demanding his resignation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Sevastopol prosecutor's office approved the indictment against Voskanyan in the case of supplying an expensive MRI machine. In 2015, Sevzdrav concluded a contract with a commercial organization for the supply of a Prestige-15 magnetic resonance imaging scanner, and in a record 12 days. According to the acceptance certificate, the supplier received almost 82 million rubles, but the device itself arrived at City Hospital No. 1 only in February 2017, the room for its installation was not prepared, and due to improper storage the device became unusable. Voskanyan had already resigned by that time.

The criminal case was conducted by the Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee for Crimea and Sevastopol. The actions of the ex-director of Sevzdrav are qualified under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “abuse of official powers.” The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment. The Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol will consider the case.
Voskanyan left his post in September 2016. He is remembered for two public scandals - during a visit to city hospital No. 2, indignant patients tore the director of the department's tie and tried to beat him. And for the grand opening of the operating unit, equipment from all departments and other hospitals was brought to hospital No. 5, and after the ceremony they were brought back.
Until recently, Voskanyan was a professor at the Department of Health Organization and Public Health of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education of the Russian Ministry of Health.
