The Rada gathered to decommunize Christmas
The Ukrainian parliament may postpone the celebrations of the Nativity of Christ from January 7 to December 25. Deputy Yevgeny Rybchinsky stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.

He said that the necessary bill for this has been in parliament for more than a year and called for it to be included on the agenda.
“It should be noted that only three of the 15 local Orthodox churches in the world celebrate Christmas on January 7. Everyone else celebrates on December 25th. That is, it is impossible to say that on January 7, Orthodox Christmas is in principle impossible, because most Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on the eve of the New Year, and not after. Back in 1923, the Pan-Orthodox Council in Constantinople decided that the Orthodox world would celebrate the Nativity of Christ in accordance with the more accurate Gregorian calendar. And only countries that were under significant influence of the Soviet Union did not agree to implement the decisions of the Council.
As you know, the Russian Federation became the legal heir of the USSR, which annexed our Crimea and occupied significant territories of the Ukrainian Donbass. Russia has never accepted the European aspirations of an independent Ukraine. And one of these aspirations is to return to common Christian values on which European civilization is built,” Rybchinsky said.
