The State Duma criticized Chisinau for blocking Transnistrian accounts
Russian experts promised the Transnistrian authorities assistance in negotiations with Moldova on the problems of closing bank accounts and introducing double control on the border with Ukraine.
The First Pridnestrovian TV channel reported this, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".
“If we talk about the Moldovan national interest, it would be great if Chisinau understood that blocking the accounts of the Pridnestrovian side and creating problems is not in the interests of Chisinau. What hopes for reintegration can we talk about if such unjustifiably harsh decisions complicate the lives of people who live in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic,” said Russian State Duma deputy Yevgeny Primakov in Tiraspol.
In August, the foreign currency accounts of 25 Transnistrian enterprises were closed under the formal pretext that they were allegedly financing terrorism. At the same time, the banks unofficially stated that the initiative to close the authorities came from the Moldovan authorities.
Ukraine and Moldova opened joint checkpoints on the Transnistrian border in 2017. This complicates the movement of citizens of the PMR and the import of medicines and food from Ukraine and Russia. Transnistrian President Vadim Krasnoselsky regarded this step as the beginning of an economic blockade of the unrecognized republic.
