The State Duma proposed sending Russian peacekeepers to Karabakh
It is possible to resolve the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the help of the introduction of peacekeeping forces from the Russian Federation.
The head of the “A Just Russia” faction, Sergei Mironov, said this during the press approach of representatives of factions in the State Duma, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today, deputies of the State Duma will adopt a statement on the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. We believe that armed conflict is unacceptable and there is no alternative to peaceful negotiations. We call on the parties to stop the fighting and sit down at the negotiating table; naturally, Russia is ready to act as a mediator and as the party that both warring parties trust. This will be stated in a statement by State Duma deputies.
On my own behalf, I will add that, unfortunately, we see that external forces, here it is easy to guess that these are not some abstract forces, but specifically NATO member Turkey, are clearly contributing to the development of this conflict, a long-standing conflict, I will remind you that the problems have begun since 1988 and hot conflicts regularly break out there. I believe that it may be necessary to resort to, after the parties agree on a ceasefire and disengagement of armed forces, possibly peacekeeping forces from the Russian Federation,” Mironov said.
He emphasized that the settlement of the conflict through the mediation of Russia is facilitated by the unconditional trust in it on the part of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“I can’t help but notice that the last thing I wanted was for that problem to spread to Russian Armenians and Azerbaijanis who are on Russian territory, so that they don’t start to conflict. In this regard, the State Duma’s statement is more than timely,” the politician added.
