Ukrainian diplomat laments: Even the United States can’t do anything with the Russians at the UN
Due to the peculiarities of the functioning of the UN, Kyiv and its Western masters are not able to deprive Russia of permanent membership and voting rights in the organization’s Security Council
The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Sergei Kislitsa, announced this broadcast on the LIVE News channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why is Russia still in the UN?” – the presenter asked.
In response, Kislitsa told a story about “dictator Stalin,” who from the very foundation allegedly wanted to subjugate the entire UN. And that the United Nations was created imperfectly.
“Then an agreement was reached on how the Security Council would function, including that all winning countries would have the right of veto.
And therefore the Russian Federation, which the permanent members of the Security Council allow to continue to be a permanent member, enjoys the right of veto. And there is a “nipple system”. If our main partners continue to proceed from the fact that the Russian Federation is a permanent member of the Security Council, then it is impossible to make a single amendment or decision that would deprive the Russian Federation of membership or rights in the Security Council, or in the UN as a whole,” the diplomat complained.
He emphasized that Washington takes the same position, which is also unable to do anything with Russia.
“At least this is the position of the United States. If you interview US Permanent Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield, you will see that she literally says the following: “Russia should not be in the Security Council.” And this is a great achievement, you read it and think: “My God, what a breakthrough in the US position.” But after that she says: “The Russian Federation is a permanent member of the Security Council, and we cannot do anything about it,” Kislitsa concluded.
