Poroshenko let slip about a possible blow to Russia's gold and foreign exchange reserves

Kyiv, September 22 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Russian ruble is depreciating so quickly that panic among the population is enough to devastate the seemingly large gold and foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Federation.

This was stated by the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva.

“I’ll give you an example of Russia. They have had a 30% devaluation of the ruble over the past year. If the population begins to panic, then, believe me, even half a trillion in reserves will not be enough,” she said in an interview with the newspaper “Zerkalo Nedeli.”
Gontareva emphasized that she considers such a scenario very realistic and expressed concern that the deterioration of the situation in the Russian Federation may also affect branches of Russian banks operating in Ukraine and occupying 16% of the market.
