The court overturned the sentence of the leader of the Russian Bloc
The Presidium of the Sevastopol City Court on Wednesday overturned the sentence of Russian Bloc leader Gennady Basov, who had previously received 9 years in prison and a multimillion-dollar fine on charges of corruption.
Basov’s defense insisted that the hero of the Russian Spring became a victim of provocation, having begun to fight the “cemetery mafia” in the funeral services market of Sevastopol, which was formed back in Ukrainian times with the support of “werewolves in uniform” and stole millions of rubles from the city treasury.

According to the press service of the Russian Bloc, today the court sent the criminal case for a new trial to the appellate court. During the trial, Basov will still remain behind bars, where he has been for about two years.
“The court hearing, which took place today in the large hall of the Sevastopol City Court, with a large crowd of people, struck me from the very beginning with the extraordinary nature of the process. Deputy Prosecutor of the city of Sevastopol Emelyanov I.V. asked the court to partially satisfy the cassation appeal of G.A. Basov. and acquit him of one of the charges. The prosecutor said that finding Basov guilty of this part of the charge was illegal and suggested that the court change the term of imprisonment downwards, as well as grant him the right to rehabilitation.
However, Basov and his defense told the court that they demanded a complete cessation of criminal prosecution on all charges. They asked the court for a not guilty verdict and rehabilitation. For about an hour and a half, Basov’s defense consistently presented its position, pointing out significant violations of the criminal procedural law and providing evidence of falsification of the criminal case.
The court’s decision caused a storm of applause and wild rejoicing in the packed courtroom,” the press service said in a statement.
“The Russian Bloc considers today’s court decision to be interim and will continue to work until its leader is completely acquitted,” Gennady Basov’s associates emphasized.
